Hey ,

We took the day off yesterday to recognize the veterans in our family.  How did you celebrate Veteran's Day?  It's kind of crazy that we only honor veterans one day a year for their commitment, dedication, sacrifice and willingness to give their lives in the service of our country, protecting our freedoms.  It's one of the reasons I love being a part of Wreaths Across America, which has its annual wreath-laying holiday event coming up next month.  Check out more information on that in this week's Meet-Up Highlight and make plans to get involved in your area.

Alright, let's get to this week's takes.

Marketing Tip: Flood the Zone with Focused Content

If you want to be known for something, you have to talk about it.  A lot. The companies and individuals who dominate their space are the ones who flood the zone with content around a few consistent themes.

Pick the three or four topics you or your company want to be known for and go all in. Educate, repeat, and reinforce until your audience starts repeating it back to you. Over time, they will become educated buyers who already understand your value before the first sales call. That is how you turn cold leads into warm conversations, and make selling more efficient and more fun.

Variety is key. Mix it up with videos, short posts, polls, memes, or anything that makes your audience stop scrolling, even for a moment. You do not need to go viral; you just need to show up consistently with value. And most importantly, be authentically you.  Don't try to be like someone else or follow all the latest trends.  Content consumers can sniff out inauthentic content faster than you can hit Post.

Remember, familiarity builds trust, and trust drives sales. So flood the zone with content that shows who you are, what you believe, what you know and how you help. Eventually, your name will become the one people think of first, and the one they trust most.

Mindset Shift: Opportunity Wears Work Boots

I had the opportunity to chat with a friend of mine this week who is a freight broker, and he mentioned that the market is still tough and that this may be the new normal, at least for the foreseeable future.

You know, tough times have a way of testing us, especially when the economy tightens and uncertainty sets in. But here is the truth: every downturn creates opportunity for those willing to look for it.

The problem is that opportunity rarely announces itself. It does not show up with a sign that says “easy win ahead" or "turn here." It hides in the hard stuff; the long days, the extra calls, the learning curve, the grind that most people avoid.

As the old saying goes, “Opportunity is often hard for people to find because it is disguised as hard work.” And it is true. The people who lean in when everyone else backs off are the ones who come out stronger and ahead.

So if things feel uncertain right now, shift your focus. Instead of asking, “When will this get easier?” ask, “Where can I create value while others hesitate?”

That question turns challenges into openings, and those openings are where new growth, innovation, and success begin.

Meet-up Spotlight: Honoring Heroes this Christmas

IMG_1034-1

Each December, thousands of volunteers across the country take part in Wreaths Across America, a nationwide effort to honor our fallen heroes by laying wreaths on their graves. It’s one of the most meaningful traditions I’m a part of, and this year marks my third time joining the event.

Every time, I bring someone new to experience it. Last year, I had the privilege of taking my good friend Mark Manera to lay a wreath at his grandpa’s headstone at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, a moment I’ll never forget.

Getting involved is simple, and it’s a great way to engage your team in something that truly matters. You can sponsor a wreath or two, help transport wreaths across the country by donating your truck or a load, or volunteer to lay wreaths at one of more than 4,000 participating cemeteries nationwide.

Learn more or find a way to get involved at wreathsacrossamerica.org.

Because remembering our heroes is something we should never take for granted.

Alright, that’s a wrap for this week’s takes. Now go make a difference out there, and I’ll be back with three more takes next Tuesday.
