We had our final Post & Pray Classic golf tournament yesterday, and it was bittersweet to say the least. Although I love putting this tournament together, I realized recently that it's not what I want to be spending my time on. I'm a coach, a consultant and a communicator, and that's where I want to spend my time over the next 10 years.
So I made the difficult to decision to once again prune something good in my life in order to have more time, energy and focus on what I really want, and it reminded me that good is the enemy of great.
As we wind down 2025, is there anything in your life that, although it is a good thing, is getting in the way of something really great? As we prepare to enjoy the holidays and turn the page on another trip around the sun, I pray that you will find peace in letting go of something good in order to pursue something even better.
Alright, let's get to this week's takes.
Marketing Tip: Do the Right Thing, Especially When It’s Hard
I'm not sure if you heard about it, but this week’s NBA gambling scandal on the heels of the allegations of salary cap circumvention by the Los Angeles Clippers reminded us that reputation is everything. Fans are now questioning if the game they love is fair or if it's a rigged enterprise to exploit the system and enrich those engaged in cheating. Once trust is broken, the game changes, and not for the better.
In business, the same rule applies: always do the right thing, even when it costs you. Own your mistakes when, and preferably, before someone else points them out. Be transparent when things go wrong and do what is necessary to make it right. People respect honesty far more than perfection.
When a customer sees you take responsibility, you build credibility. When they see you hide behind excuses, you lose it.
This may seem like an odd "marketing tip", but every aspect of your business is communicating to the market, so doing the right thing is not just good ethics, it is good marketing. Integrity and how you make people feel, especially when things go wrong, is the one thing your competitors cannot copy.
Mindset Shift: Take a Break From the Noise
Social media is louder than ever, full of opinions, arguments, and outrage. The constant scrolling, comparing, and reacting leaves us drained and distracted, and it never stops. 24 hours a day you can doomscroll, argue with a stranger and get your dopamine fix.
Maybe it is time for a reset. This may sound weird or even impossible, but maybe it's time to take a social media fast this week. Step away from the noise, even if only for a day, and make space to think, pray, and connect with the people who matter most.
Go for a walk without your phone and listen to the wind blow, kids playing at the park and cars driving by. Have dinner with those you love without checking notifications. Spend some time writing some thoughts or working on a puzzle. Let your mind breathe.
You will be amazed how much clarity, creativity, and peace return when you take a break from everyone else’s opinions and tune back in to your own thoughts.

Meet-up Spotlight: Fixing Freight IT Webinar
Over the past few months, I have had the chance to get to know Jake Persofsky, the founder of Insperia, and I have been incredibly impressed, not just by his IT expertise, but by the way he treats people. It's obvious from the first interaction how much he cares about helping freight brokers solve real problems in their tech stack.
That is why I am excited to invite you to join Jake and Jade Rush, the CEO of R&R Global Logistics, for a live webinar on Wednesday, November 5th at 1 PM CT, where they will break down the 7 Most Common IT Challenges Freight Brokers Face, and how to overcome them.
If you are tired of dealing with downtime, disconnected systems, faulty integrations and other tech headaches that interrupt operations and slow your growth, this is one you do not want to miss.
